Ar Hijjas Kasturi (Architect) Hijjas Architects and Planners
Ar Hijjas Kasturi was born on 26 September 1936. He was the first Dean for Faculty of Applied Arts, and also for Kajian Senibina Perancangan dan Ukur (KSPU), UiTM Shah Alam. Active for more than fty years in the architectural eld, he has been responsible for some of the most signicant buildings in South East Asia, in the modern, postmodern, and deconstructivist styles. He is considered as the father of Malaysian architecture of the second half of the twentieth century.
Some of the iconic buildings designed by Hijjas Kasturi Associates include Menara Maybank (1989), Tabung Haji (1986), the National Library, Telekom Tower (2001), and Putrajaya International Convention Centre (2003).
The appointment as the rst FSPU Adjunct Profesor starting in 2019 is the recognition of UiTM for Ar Hijjas Kasturi’s contribution to FSPU, UiTM and the nation in Architecture and education.
