The Centre for Geospatial Technology (CGT) is a centre of excellence at the Faculty of Architecture, Planning and Surveying, UiTM Malaysia. The centre was initiated by the Department of Surveying Science and Geomatics.
The centre is committed to excel in research and training in the field of land surveying & geomatics by utilizing geospatial technology systems and methods on land and marine and the environment; producing innovative geospatial solutions beyond the sky and sea. The motto of CGT is Geospatial Solutions for All.
Activities of the centre involve research & development, training and commercialization of resources, products and services pertaining to geospatial science and technology. The centre focuses on research findings, innovative spatial solutions and products for facilitating decision-making processes involving all sectors of the geospatial technology.
Mission,Vision & Objectives
Vision - "To become a distinguished centre in the application and advancement of geospatial technology locally and internationally".
Mission - "To attain excellence in research and training in the operational use and development of geospatial technology in space, on land, in the sea and over the ocean".
Objectives
To conduct research by utilizing geospatial technology such as remote sensing, geographical information system (GIS), digital photogrammetry, GNSS/GPS satellites systems and laser scanning to fulfill the scientific, technical and business needs of the geoinformation community.
To offer consultancy services in areas related to geoinformation and its applications for organizations/individuals within UiTM and outside UiTM so as to provide innovative geospatial data solutions and facilitate decision-making process.
To provide periodic training in the form of short courses/workshops for organizations/individuals within UiTM, outside UiTM locally and regionally so as to provide the knowledge and the necessary skills in the dealing of the geographic data sets and the environment for a sustainable development.
To promote technical and scientific cooperation through bilateral, joint seminars/workshops, joint supervision, research collaboration amongst scientists and practitioners, who have a common interest of engaging geoinformation technology in meeting their operational and business needs.
Research & Core Activities
The thrust areas of the CGT is divided into 4 SIGs and the research themes consist of the GNSS and Applications, Terrestrial Survey Technology, Hydrography and Oceanography, Remote Sensing & GIS.
